Custom Destination URL

I want to be able to send people to specific pages, other than the homepage of a website that I am advertising for but I’m not sure how to customize the HTML code that I recieve from ComissionJunction.com so I can make a working link and get credit for sales I create.  I tried copying the /click123434-2333423 numbers at the end of the html code that CJ.com provides and adding that to the end of the url page I wanted to send people to but that failed to load the page. ex)  http://sports.yahoo.com/click123434-2333423.  How do I make this work so I dont have to send people to a website’s hompage?
